Artificial Intelligence (AI) is increasingly prevalent across all societal sectors, with health remaining a highly relevant area for its application. This study aims to examine how perceptions and uses of AI in health-related topics influence its adoption among residents of Nuevo León, Mexico. Employing a quantitative approach and a cross-sectional design, a survey was conducted with 675 individuals, assessing the frequency of Internet use for health inquiries, attitudes toward AI in healthcare services, and acceptance of AI-assisted medical decision-making and treatment customization. Data were analyzed using linear regression models. The findings indicate a positive correlation between searching for medication information and the use of AI. However, there is significant resistance to consulting AI for health issues, reflected by a strong negative correlation with the preference for not using AI. Positive perceptions about AI's ability to enhance healthcare quality are associated with increased AI use, while concerns about autonomy in critical medical decisions are linked to reduced usage. Public concerns about AI's safety and privacy need to be addressed and understanding of its potential health benefits improved. Education and awareness campaigns are suggested to facilitate broader adoption of these technologies.
