The research addresses the use of podcasts and video podcasts among communication students, exploring their evolution in response to technological changes that have transformed education and contemporary lifestyle. In a digitalized world, understanding the impact of these tools is crucial to enhance the autonomy of young people in the face of the overwhelming amount of information on digital platforms. A qualitative and interpretive approach is adopted in the methodological framework, using semi-structured interviews with twelve students from three universities to capture their opinions and experiences. Objectives include describing the perceived value of these tools, understanding barriers and facilitators, and offering a detailed overview of advantages and disadvantages versus traditional methods. The results not only record observations, but also contribute to understanding the changing dynamics in education, with emphasis on the adaptation of communication students to new modalities. The results are presented as a valuable reference for educators, researchers, and professionals interested in optimizing technological resources in education, highlighting the differences between podcasts, video podcasts, and traditional methods. It reflects on how technological implementations transform students into more autonomous individuals. The study is positioned as a crucial tool for designing future educational strategies, highlighting the need to expand the sample and the inclusion of quantitative data to strengthen the validity of the results.
