Transportation sector is the lifeline of any country’s economy which connects the provisioner to the consumer-in-need. Evidently, the words “transportation” and “uncertainties” go hand-in-hand. The transportation cost depends on uncontrollable factors like weather conditions, inflation, toll-stations and other unforeseen circumstances. In the literature, uncertainties in transportation problems have been dealt with by fuzzy sets and their extensions such as intuitionistic fuzzy sets, Pythagorean sets and spherical fuzzy sets. In the proposed work, we have given the solution of a Fermatean fuzzy transportation problem through a new perspective to the already existing Vogel’s approximation method. Fermatean fuzzy sets with their arithmetic operations and other details are discussed. The applicability of the proposed work is illustrated using a solved numerical example. The results are also discussed.
