摘要
Juvenile delinquency is a serious problem that almost all countries of the world face, and India is not an exception. Delinquency refers to antisocial behaviour, and juvenile means children under 18. Children experience rapid physical, cognitive, and psychosocial growth during adolescence. Children sometimes fail to balance their life and behaviour, and there is a fair chance of engaging in antisocial activities. Juvenile delinquency is more frequent in major cities. NCT of Delhi ranks the top in juvenile delinquency among major cities of India. This paper is designed to study the spatial perspective of crime committed by juveniles in NCT of Delhi with the help of crime rate. Juvenile crimes are classified in major crime heads for a better understanding of the issue. The major crime heads are murder, attempt to commit murder, hurt, assault on women, theft, rape, burglary, and robbery. ArcGIS software is used to map the spatial variation of delinquency rate of major crime heads across districts of NCT of Delhi. SPSS software is used to analyse the impact of socio-economic variables on crime rates. The study hypothesised that a significant relation between socio-economic variables and spatial distribution of crimes committed by juveniles.
