This chapter explains the impact of the Seoul Agenda (Seoul agenda: goals for the development of arts education. UNESCO, 2010) on the development of concepts in arts education in Germany and beyond and also explores possibilities for how the policies put forward here could be implemented. The chapter examines on one aspect, transcultural education, by discussing the specific example of the project “Exploring Visual Cultures” which focuses on cultural heritage and is run by partners in Africa and Europe. Its goal is, according to the Seoul Agenda, to foster intercultural dialogue and peaceful development. Reflecting the experiences of this international project, challenges regarding intercultural understanding and dialogue are discussed through three case studies, in order to develop multiple perspectives through negotiation of fundamental differences. The last section discusses what can be learned from these experiences for the development of art education.
