The Masters of Mimicry: Atypical Viral Presentation

The involvement of eye tissues in viral diseases can be described as multivariate, and they behave as great mimickers. The presentation of each part of an eye when involved is quite different. The involvement of the cornea within itself can have varied presentations depending upon the involved layer such as epithelium, stroma, or endothelium. More often the atypical presentations create clinical confusion and lead to delayed visual rehabilitation. This chapter aims to provide its readers with insight into the management of one such atypical case of microcystic changes caused in the cornea of a patient who had undergone cataract surgery 8 months ago in the same eye that ultimately was diagnosed as a case of viral infection.
