Toric IOL in Irregular Astigmatism: Are We Addressing the Real Issue?

The introduction of toric intraocular lenses (TIOLs) revolutionized the treatment of astigmatism along with cataract surgery leading to reform from a mere lens exchange process into a refractive surgery giving independence from glasses in the true sense. Toric intraocular lenses are an immensely popular treatment option for regular astigmatism. However, that they are also beneficial in irregular astigmatism is a fact that is not comprehensible to many. This chapter tries to reiterate the importance of this fact in the minds of the readers with an example from our practice.
