Approved Drug Regimens, Combinations, and Delivery Systems for Alzheimer’s Disease

Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is a complex neurodegenerative disorder characterized by progressive cognitive decline and memory loss. Despite extensive research, the precise etiology of AD remains elusive, suggesting that a multifactorial approach is essential for a comprehensive understanding and effective treatment. This chapter explores the interplay of genetic, environmental, and lifestyle factors in the development and progression of AD. Genetic predispositions, such as mutations in the Apolipoprotein E (APOE) gene, are discussed alongside environmental influences, such as exposure to toxins and head injuries. Additionally, lifestyle factors, including diet, physical activity, and cognitive engagement, are examined for their potential to mitigate AD risk. This chapter also reviews current therapeutic strategies, emphasizing the need for personalized medicine approaches that integrate these diverse factors. By considering the multifaceted nature of AD, this research aims to contribute to more effective diagnostic tools and therapeutic interventions, ultimately, improving patient outcomes and quality of life.
