Menopause and Eye Health
摘要
There is sufficient evidence available to support the role of menopause on development of age-related ocular disorders, the most important being dry eye syndrome, glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration, and cataract. Since many have associated irreversible visual loss, early diagnosis plays a vital role in improving the quality of eye health. Adopting healthy lifestyle measures has a protective role. Regular comprehensive eye examinations are recommended, and ophthalmologist reference should be immediately sought with emergence of any ocular symptom.
