Genitourinary Syndrome of Menopause

The genitourinary syndrome of menopause (GSM), previously vulvovaginal atrophy, incorporates a spectrum of urogenital & sexual symptoms evolving over the menopausal transition due to underlying hypoestrogenism. Recognizing the need to address the chronic debilitating sequelae of menopause, International Society for the Study of Women’s Sexual Health and the North American Menopause Society have introduced a change in the terminology.
