Diagnosis of Menopause

India being the world’s most populous country has witnessed a dramatic demographic transition in past 50 years owing to tripling in size in the geriatric population (over 60 years). In India, where there are 1.2 billion people, 96 million of them are women, and by 2026, that number is expected to rise to 401 million. Women in India currently have an average life expectancy of 70.3 years, and by 2050, that figure is predicted to rise to 77 years (World Health Organization, 2018) [1]. Future issues posed by this group will be significant for both public and private healthcare providers. Such large population that will be in menopausal group raises an alarm to have a precise knowledge about the diagnosis of menopause so that early interventions can be done to improve the quality of life index and prevent osteoporosis and vasomotor and genitourinary symptoms.
