摘要

One of the most notable and significant demographic change that would be observable in the coming decades is the improved life expectancy of women in India due to tremendous advancement in medical care. It is estimated that by the end of 2030, there will be 1.4 billion elderly women [1] in India, necessitating a substantial degree of integrated and holistic approach for preventive care to improve the quality of life [2]. Menopause is a universal natural biological phenomenon that marks the end of reproductive life span due to permanent cessation of menses. There have been various studies and surveys which state that average age of menopause in Indian female is significantly lower (46.2 years) as compared to western population (51 years) [3], thereby majority of the Indian female population spend 30–40% of their lifespan in menopausal age group.
