Rehabilitation of Stroke in Vietnam

Rehabilitation is an essential part of every stroke service and should be given at least as many resources as the acute service given that the majority of patients will need treatment and that it is often a very effective intervention, enabling patients to live independent lives and with better quality of life. The evidence for specific interventions is improving, so there is no longer an excuse to say that ‘there is nothing we can do for this patient’. This chapter needs to be read in conjunction with the chapter on the Longer Term Impact of Stroke (Chap. 6 ) and the chapter on Stroke Units in Vietnam (Chap. 16 ).
