Human-AI Co-Innovation: Navigating the Innovative Problem-Solving Landscape with the Process Model and Technology Empowerment

This paper introduces a 5P model for guiding innovative problem-solving process and explores the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in facilitating the teaching and learning process. The complexity of innovative problem-solving necessitates the alternating application of divergent and convergent thinking along with phenomenon analysis, problem exploration, Plan design, prototype iteration, and value promotion. Considering the double helix development path of knowledge and thinking in this process, AI could deepen the leverage of innovative thinking by cognitive acceleration, social construction and Dual-Instructor Collaboration. Accordingly, a Human-AI Co-Innovation Framework is set up to further elaborate the AI empowerment mechanism. Looking forward, research should focus on refining human-computer collaboration and igniting students’ passion for exploration. The AI-driven augmented intelligence paradigm opens new avenues for cultivating innovative talents with interdisciplinary perspectives and skills in human-computer collaboration.
