Graduate Study Program Improvement: A Case Study of Industrial Engineering Programs

Graduate study programs face many challenges. Not only the motivations in pursuing graduate studies that affect graduate program management, internal management, opportunities, and threats could help improve the program. This study used the Department of Industrial Engineering programs as a case study. With the rapid pace of technological advancements, it is essential to continually update curricula to ensure that graduates have the knowledge and skills to meet market demands. This study explores ways to enhance international programs at the master's and doctoral levels by examining the factors that influence decision-making for students in these programs, along with SWOT analysis and competitor benchmarking. The survey findings indicate that pursuing a master's degree is often motivated by a desire to deepen knowledge in industrial engineering. In contrast, the desire to fulfill their life goals ranked the highest as the reason to pursue a doctoral degree.
