In order to improve the reliability and reduce the failure rate of deep-sea underwater equipment, this paper analyses the forms and mechanisms of failures and the destructive hazards arising from ordinary rubber watertight connectors in response to the problems that have arisen on large-depth submersibles in the last two decades. The technical advantages and usage scenarios of Oil-filled connectors are analyzed, which serve as a reference for the development and application of electrical connectors for deep-sea underwater equipment.
