A Novel Anonymous Authentication Key Agreement Protocol in Satellite Terrestrial Networks

The satellite-terrestrial networks is a network system that enables information transmission through communication connections between satellites and user equipment (UE). To address the communication delay problem and user privacy protection requirements in the STNs communication, Liu et al. put forward an anonymous authentication key agreement (AKA) protocol, which was proved to be secure under the eCK model. Unfortunately, this paper points out that the protocol does not satisfy the requirements of forward security, and there is a security risk of ephemeral key leakage leading to session key leakage. This article proposes a new anonymous AKA protocol, which realizes authentication and key agreement between satellites and UE. According to Scyther tool verification and security proof, the proposed protocol guarantees the security attributes such as anonymity, forward security, known key security, and resistance to ephemeral key leakage attack. In addition, the proposed protocol has lower communication and computation costs, making it suitable for STNs communication systems in resource constrained environments.
