In tropical and humid climate, solar panel accumulates dirt owing to dust and moisture. Regular cleaning is required to generate electricity efficiently. The proposed method in this paper uses a sprinkler and a wiper to effectively clean the panel. The use of a water sprinkler before the wiper turns into action results in better cleaning and prevention of swirl marks on the surface of the panel. The proposed method here is best suited for the Indian climate as this system works for most of the weather patterns. Experimental studies have suggested the system is able to clean more than 95% of dirt accumulated on the surface. Also, the system has a provision for manual operation as required in case of regular maintenance.
