The objectives of this chapter are to determine the long-run/steady-state market shares of different popular brands of a product by initially constructing a one-step transition probability matrix to illustrate brand interplay, inform brands about primary competitors and recommend promotional strategies, and determine long-term steady-state market shares by calculating steady-state transition probabilities. The commonly visualized fluctuations in the demands of different popular brands of different products around us have been the main motivators in doing the study. The product toothpaste has been selected and the methodology of Markovian analysis has been implemented. Data about the current toothpaste brands purchased by customers in the Purba Bardhaman district of West Bengal, India, as well as potential future purchases, were gathered through a questionnaire-based survey.

摘要
