Bilateral Air Agreements and Japan

Japan has concluded 63 bilateral air agreements. Most of the agreements concluded before 1980 were with developed States, and the type of their capacity clause was Bermuda 1. Most of the agreements concluded between 1980 and 2009 were with developing States, and the type of their capacity clause was predetermination. Starting from 2010, Japan has been concluding 39 open sky agreements. Furthermore, some particular problems concerning the air agreements with the USA, USSR/Russia, China/Taiwan and Korea are considered in detail.
