Japan’s Undersea Mineral Resources and Its New Mining Act

Japan’s old Mining Act of 1950 was based on the idea that Japan has no mining resources. However, as it has been proved that Japan has rich maritime mineral resources, in 2011 Japan enacted the new Mining Act and it corresponds to international standard. The new Mining Act is based on the clear premise that Japan’s mineral resources are the wealth of its nationals.
