The Taepodong Missile Incident in 1998 and Emerging Issues of Interpretation and Application of Space Treaties
摘要
In 1998, North Korea launched a missile which flew over Japan. This chapter clarifies that the launch was a violation of international norms including the ICAO rule, the IMO rule, the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea and outer space treaties. It is deplorable that North Korea has been repeatedly launching missiles. The international community should consider not only nuclear test but also missile launching more seriously.
