G.S. Sharat Chandra, a poet and writer, was born in the village of Nanjangud in Karnataka, India. His academic journey was profoundly influenced by his father, a criminal lawyer whose profession sparked a deep curiosity in the young poet. Initially drawn to the field of law, Chandra pursued his legal studies in Pune and Bengaluru. However, his passion for poetry soon took hold of his heart and soul, changing the course of his life and guiding him on a path of artistic exploration and self-discovery.
