Aatish Taseer was born in London in 1980 to a Sikh journalist, Tavleen Singh, and a Muslim father, Salman Taseer, the governor of the Punjab Province in Pakistan, who was assassinated in 2011. Taseer attended an international school in India before moving to America, where he attended Amherst College and earned his dual BA degrees in French and Political Science. After his father’s death, Taseer divides his time between New York and Delhi, to spend time with his mother. As a journalist, he writes for The Financial Times, The Sunday Times, and The Wall Street Journal, among many others. Some of the notable works that gained him recognition are The Temple Goers (2010), Stranger to History: A Son’s Journey Through Islamic Lands (2012), The Ways Things Were (2014), Noon (2015), The Twice Born: Life and Death on the Ganges (2019), and his translation of Manto’s short stories titled Manto: Selected Stories (2008).
