Ramanujan, A. K. (1929–1993)

A. K. Ramanujan was a multi-faceted genius born in a culturally advanced Brahmin Iyengar family in Mysore. He inherited a passion for reading since the early days of his life, and handled English, Tamil, Kannada, Telugu, and Sanskrit masterfully, because of that he grew as a writer steeped in the Indian classical tradition. He was educated in Mysore, Pune, and the USA, where he settled in the late 1950s for research and teaching till the end of his life in 1993. Ramanujan was a prolific writer of fiction and nonfiction, and works of translation and transcreation.
