Born to Gujarati parents in Calcutta in 1963, Suketu Mehta spent his early childhood in Calcutta till his family moved to Mumbai, India. His family immigrated to New York when he was 14. He was enrolled in the all-boys Catholic High School in Queens, New York. After graduating from New York University and completing his master’s in fine arts, Mehta attended the University of Iowa Writer’s Workshop. Currently, he works as an Associate Professor of Journalism at New York University and resides in Manhattan. Mehta has authored two books and has also written original screenplays for films.
