Anita Majumdar grew up in Port Moody, British Columbia, Canada, a small town that features in her best-known work, the Fish Eyes Trilogy. Her parents were first-generation immigrants from Bengal, India. She got her BA in English, Theater, and South Asian Languages from the University of British Columbia and graduated from the National Theatre School of Canada in 2004. She is a reputed playwright, award-winning actor (both on-screen and on-stage), visual arts practitioner, dancer, and choreographer trained in Kathak, Bharat Natyam, and Odissi. For Majumdar, all these forms of artmaking interact and provide her with different points of entry into each.
