Nitasha Kaul is an academic and novelist who lives and works in the United Kingdom. She is currently a Professor at the Department of Politics and International Relations and the Director of the Centre for the Study of Democracy (CSD), University of Westminster, London. She was born in Kashmir and educated in New Delhi and the United Kingdom. As an expatriate Indian of Kashmiri Pandit origin, she is proud of her Kashmiri roots. Kaul is a trained economist and completed her PhD in Economics and Philosophy from the University of Hull, UK. She is a prolific writer and has published on diverse topics like economics, social theory, and democracy in South Asia in general and Kashmir in particular.
