Introduction
摘要
Driven by the widespread adoption of next-generation technologies—including the Internet of Things, blockchain, artificial intelligence, and cloud computing—platform supply chain systems are undergoing a profound shift toward greater digitalization, intelligence, and operational efficiency. These advancements support real-time data capture, sophisticated analytics, and intelligent decision-making across the entire supply chain. Beyond basic digital upgrades, platform supply chains are evolving from traditional linear structures into dynamic, interconnected networks. This transformation enables broader data sharing and deeper integration across stakeholders. As a result, modern platform supply chain management is characterized by end-to-end digital intelligence, systemic complexity, and network-wide collaboration. By establishing or participating in such platforms, companies can significantly enhance their capabilities in intelligent decision-making, rapid response, resource orchestration, and risk control. Within this context, the predict-then-optimize (PTO) paradigm has gained considerable traction in platform supply chain operations. This book offers a comprehensive and systematic examination of platform supply chain management through the lens of the PTO approach, integrating theoretical foundations with practical implementation. To frame the scope and flow of the book, Chap. 1 opens with an overview of the background and evolution of platform supply chains. Section 1.1.2 introduces the PTO paradigm, and Sect. 1.1.3 examines its specific applications in platform supply chain management. Finally, Sect. 1.1.4 outlines the structure of the book and summarizes the focus of subsequent chapters, providing readers with a clear guide to the content ahead.
