A Review of Mobile Pumping Equipment for Emergency Water Management

The increasing frequency of natural disasters, such as floods and droughts—exacerbated by climate change and rapid urbanization—poses a significant threat to human settlements and the socio-economic stability. Mobile pumping equipment, crucial for emergency water supply and drainage, is vital to mitigating these risks and enhancing disaster resilience. This study systematically analyzes the current landscape and prospects of this critical technology. It investigates representative mobile pumping equipment from both domestic and international markets, assessing their types, technical performance, and applicability across various scenarios. The analysis identifies key limitations in existing technologies, particularly concerning reliability, intelligence, and multifunctionality. Based on these findings, this paper outlines the primary challenges and proposes a roadmap for future development centered on intelligent control, high performance, multifunctional capabilities, safety, reliability, and environmental sustainability. The insights from this study are intended to guide the research, development, and deployment of next-generation mobile water management solutions, ultimately strengthening emergency response capabilities and improving outcomes in flood control and drought relief.
