The abdominal wall is superiorly bounded by the xiphoid process and bilateral costal margins; inferiorly by the upper edge of the pubic symphysis, pubic tubercles, inguinal ligaments, anterior superior spine, and iliac crest; and laterally by the mid-axillary lines.
