摘要

This chapter explores the “narrative turn” in the social sciences and introduces various types of stories and narrative analysis (NA) as tools for understanding and interpreting narrative data on forced migration. Key concepts and common practices related to NA are presented, with particular attention to stories in/as practice that emphasise the affective and subjective processes of meaning-making. The application of NA is illustrated through two case studies on forced migration in China and Afghanistan. The chapter also includes a discussion of ethical issues related to the collection and analysis of narratives. It concludes with two exercises, each providing a dataset aligned with the type of story analysed in the case studies.
