摘要

Balancing the amount of physical activity with academic achievement is often a challenge for students at the university level. However, past studies have suggested that involvement in physical activity can be beneficial for academic performance. This study aimed to identify the relationship between the frequency of physical activity focusing in the aspect of the item fitness motive in the questionnaires and its relationship towards academic achievement among UTM students. A total of 628 respondents from five faculties at UTM Skudai participated in this research. A set of structured questionnaires using 7-likert scales was distributed. Data were analyzed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 23.0. The findings revealed that neither fitness motives nor physical activity frequency had a significant correlation with academic achievement. Moreover, there was no significant positive relationship between the frequency of physical activity and fitness motives. Overall, this study found no clear evidence supporting the notion that physical activity frequency or fitness motives significantly impacts academic performance. Further exploration of broader motivational factors is recommended.
