Technology-Assisted Golf Coaching: A Conceptual Overview of Biomechanics, Motion Analysis Tools, and Coaching Practices for Grassroots Development

The use of technology in sports coaching has grown rapidly, yet its application in grassroots golf remains underexplored, especially among junior and amateur players. This conceptual paper proposes a framework that integrates biomechanical principles, wearable technologies, and cognitive-motor strategies to enhance the effectiveness of coaching in non-elite settings. The objective is to provide accessible, relevant, and adaptable solutions that enable coaches to better support skill acquisition, monitor performance, and prevent injuries. Methodologically, through literature review and synthesis of existing coaching practices, this paper outlines an approach to develop a conceptual model tailored to the grassroots level that supports skill acquisition, injury prevention, and individualized feedback. The proposed framework highlights potential benefits such as improved training efficiency and engagement, while also emphasizes the importance of coach education and simplified tools to ensure practical implementation. Key outcomes include a structured yet flexible coaching guide that encourages data-informed decision-making while maintaining player engagement. This framework offers potential to bridge the gap between elite-level innovations and beginner-based coaching practices. Discussion emphasizes the importance of coach education and contextual adaptation in applying sports science tools effectively.
