摘要

Each type of motorcycle has a different design of handgrip. However, some of the riders face several side effects after a long ride such as fatigue and tiredness in their wrist area. Thus, it is essential to explore the perception of people toward hand grip’s comfort by determining whether different designs of hand grip can give optimum comfort perception. The data from a survey conducted is used to design a suitable hand grip using CATIA V5 software. The final design was fabricated by a 3D Printer using ABS Material and coating the mock-up with black rubber paint to give a similar feel as standard grip. The mock-up test was conducted in 3 sessions to study the respondents’ comfort perception based on their ranking score. The data from ranking and questionnaire feedback session was evaluated using statistical analysis (chi-square test) to calculate whether the p-value is higher than the α value. The results from both sessions show that (p > 0.05) where it is significantly supports that, the comfort level of the mock-up model (with rubber coat) is within the range of standard rubber gripper. During the comparison session, the rubber coated mock-up clearly has better ranking compared to other grips based on the comfort perception. Moreover, a linear regression analysis also estimates that the manufactured close price of the mock-up is affordable and within price range same as standard grip.
