摘要

This study investigates the efficacy of intermittent pneumatic compression (IPC) compared to cold-water immersion (CWI) and combination (COM) of both treatments’ recovery on blood lactate concentration among young healthy adults. A total of 30 young male participants aged between 18–30 was randomly assigned to three groups: IPC, CWI and COM. All participants performed 1-min treadmill run at 85% HRmax to induce lactate threshold prior to the experiment treatment. Each treatment of recovery period was 12-min and every 3 min of 4 interval that the blood lactate was taken and measured. Results showed there is significant different in lactate threshold in COM group. More specifically, a significant lower lactate threshold at 6-min and 12-min compared to 3-min following COM treatment (p < .005). However, no different between all treatment groups on lactate threshold (p < .05). These findings indicate that IPC have similar impact as current recovery treatment in lactate clearance.
