Research Note: Emerging Sensitive Research: A Non-western Female Perspective
摘要
This chapter documents the author’s research fieldwork notes since 2016. Emerging sensitive research is a concept that coined in this chapter to summarize the author’s longitudinal research on China’s technology sector during uncertain and worsening U.S.–China relations in the past few years. This research note is documented to describe some humane impact on both the researcher along with Chinese and American citizens’ cognition, which tries to identify the challenges to conducting emerging sensitive research in politically and economically uncertain international environments. In the concluding section of this chapter, the importance of enhancing researchers’ interviewing skills and equipping researchers with evolving research mentalities, particularly with their “non-western, foreign” interviewees is emphasized.
