Ore Prospecting Indicators and Metallogenic Prognosis of Tin–Polymetallic Deposits in the Western Yunnan Tin Belt

This chapter systematically summarizes the ore-controlling factors and prospecting indicators for tin–polymetallic deposits in the Western Yunnan Tin Belt. The key controlling elements identified include tin-bearing granites, host rock strata (Late Proterozoic–Early Paleozoic metamorphic series and Permian formations), structures (minor faults and areas adjacent to plate suture zones), wall rock alterations (e.g., greisenization and skarnization), and iron gossans. By integrating regional geophysical and geochemical data, such as low gravity anomalies (− 2 to – 10 mGal), weak positive aeromagnetic anomalies (0–100 nT), coupled geochemical anomalies of Sn–W–Cu–F, and placer (heavy mineral) anomalies, a quantitative assessment of metallogenic potential is conducted. Based on the synthesis of geological and geophysical datasets, prospecting targets have been delineated into three categories: A, B, and C. These targets include four Class A targets (North Lianghe–East Yingjiang, Northwest Tengchong, Northeast Tengchong, and Yunlong–Baoshan areas), five Class B targets (Changning–Fengqing–Yunxian, Longling–Ruili, South Zhenkang, West Jinghong, and Northwest Ximeng areas), and four Class C targets (Northeast Yingjiang, Southern Gaoligong Mountains, West Lincang, and East Lancang areas). This work provides clear guidance for subsequent exploration.
