Sensor-Assisted Gamified Assessment of Cognitive, Socio-Emotional, and Motor Domains in Older Adults: Design and Feasibility Study

Age-related neurocognitive disorders often erode cognition, socio-emotional engagement, and motor coordination in parallel, yet most digital tools assess these domains in isolation and rely on self-report or game scores alone. We introduce TriADL game suit, a sensor-assisted, gamified assessment suite using multimodal wearable sensors to address cognition, motor and socio-emotional needs of the elderly. The suite consists of different levels of mini-game modules to assess and train (i) spatial working memory, (ii) bimanual rhythmic fluency, and (iii) autobiographical recall and affect. Each module subscribes to a shared analytics service that streams θ/α cognitive-load indices, scan-path entropy, and gesturelatency symmetry every 250 ms, allowing real-time difficulty scaling and comprehensive log export. This paper details the design rationale, sensor integration workflow, calibration procedures, and data schema, and then reports initial feasbility evaluation with different sensors. Next step will be planing multiple subjects evaluation with longitudinal deployments aimed for personalised training across the cognitive–emotional–motor spectrum in older adults.
