International Antarctic Law in the Twenty-First Century
摘要
The creation and development of the legal regime for the Antarctic region has been shaped by geopolitical tensions. In turn, Antarctic law has influenced the behaviour of states in the region. This chapter introduces the concept of Antarctic law as a regional regime created and developed by the Antarctic community to address geopolitical tensions and other regional problems. It examines the main features of Antarctic law, its foundations, its influence on international society and the importance of this legal regime for the ordering of the Antarctic region.
