摘要

Helicobacter pylori infection has a global prevalence of up to 50% and is a major risk factor for gastric cancer [1]. The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) classifies H. pylori as a Group 1 carcinogen, posing a significant public health challenge [2]. On July 7, 2025, the IARC/World Health Organization (WHO) published a research paper entitled Global lifetime estimates of expected and preventable gastric cancers across 185 countries in Nature Medicine [3]. This study assessed lifetime estimates of expected and preventable gastric cancer cases across 185 countries and regions worldwide. The results indicate that among individuals born globally between 2008 and 2017, approximately 15.8 million are projected to develop gastric cancer at some point in their lives. Among these cases, 76% (11.9 million individuals) are associated with H. pylori infection.
