In addition to antibiotic resistance and patient adherence, the intragastric acidic environment is a critical factor influencing the success of Helicobacter pylori eradication. Multiple studies have demonstrated that the efficacy of antibiotics or bismuth alone is suboptimal, whereas combination therapy with acid-suppressive agents significantly improves eradication rates. Furthermore, the H. pylori eradication rate is closely associated with both the degree and duration of gastric acid suppression [1–5].
