Until this point in the book, we have primarily focused on binary properties. Like Mendel’s smooth or wrinkled peas or people who have cystic fibrosis, these phenotypes, driven by a single gene, are associated with just two discrete outcomes. Binary properties are easy to distinguish and easy to trace to their genetic roots.
