No one would deny the excitement of hearing for the first time—usually during a routine ultrasound—that the mother is carrying either a girl or a boy. However, not everyone is aware of what governs the timing of such an announcement. The fact is, until about the seventh week of pregnancy, the fetus has the potential to go either way.
