As a doctor, I always try to go the distance. Maybe that’s why I’m inspired by the story of James Lind, a British surgeon who served aboard the HMS Salisbury in the mid-eighteenth century. While on patrol in the North Atlantic, Lind performed one of the medical world’s first controlled clinical trials, treating sailors suffering from scurvy.
