Cynthia Houniuhi (Solomon Islands): The Land Remembers
摘要
Cynthia Houniuhi, Solomon Islands climate justice lawyer and former President of Pacific Islands Students Fighting Climate Change, who spent her youth walking land boundaries with elders in her matrilineal community, orientated her legal strategy when 27 University of the South Pacific students petitioned for an International Court of Justice (ICJ) advisory opinion on climate obligations. In 2024, she testified at the ICJ, translating sacred Indigenous knowledge into international law.
