A Review of the Research Progress in Footprint Biometric Recognition
摘要
With the continuous development of high-tech industries, the integration of computer science with other disciplinary fields has become very common in both production and daily life. This has also imposed higher requirements on traditional public security and personal identification. Biometric recognition technology conducts identity authentication through human biometric features. It generally has measurable and automatic identification functions, and biometric features possess stability in terms of inheritance and remaining unchanged throughout one’s life. Compared with traditional personal identification methods, it is safer, more accurate, and more convenient. Recognition technologies such as fingerprint, face, and iris have matured and are playing important roles in people’s daily lives and public security work. Footprints, as a type of physical evidence, are of great value in criminal technology. It is particularly important to effectively integrate biometric recognition technology into footprint inspection and identification, and to research footprint biometric recognition methods and analyze the development prospects of footprint biometric recognition technology.
