Advancing Sustainable Literacy In Creative Disciplines: Educational Strategies For Environmental Responsibility

Sustainable education in creativity is a goal for safeguarding the future of our planet. The environment is in crisis, and many societies now face serious ecological challenges. Yet, some professionals continue to build structures and create products without looking at long-term environmental impact. This paper explores how creative education can play a direct role in creating more ecologically conscious solutions. It addresses how educational curricula, especially in interior design, interior architecture, and architecture, can integrate sustainability as a core principle. It examines the emotional, psychological, and cultural implications of sustainable education. It also considers how creative industries can partner with schools to promote sustainable awareness among learners. A mixed methods approach is used, combining interviews with experienced educators and a survey of students. Findings suggest that learners are not always fully exposed to the significance of sustainability in their training. Results also show that community outreach, seminars, and collaboration with external industry experts can improve sustainable literacy among learners. The paper underlines the importance of embedding instructional design principles into curricula, including studio-based and active learning methods. The conclusion highlights that education is an instrumental vehicle for social change. By embracing sustainability in creative education, communities can encourage holistic stewardship of our environment. Recommendations include continuous collaboration between creative schools and industry partners, a thoughtful review of how learning outcomes incorporate sustainability, and the emphasis on emotional engagement in ecological thinking. This research suggests that a sustainable future depends on how creative education evolves to address pressing ecological demands.
