Assessing the Impact of AI Literacy on Ethical AI Adoption Readiness Among Education Students of Davao del Norte State College
摘要
Artificial intelligence (AI) is rapidly transforming various aspects of society, making AI literacy and ethical readiness critical competencies for students preparing to engage with emerging technologies. This study investigated the relationship between AI literacy and readiness for ethical AI adoption among 54 senior students at Davao del Norte State College enrolled in the Secondary Education program, majoring in Technology and Livelihood Education. Using a quantitative correlational design, data were collected through an online survey questionnaire administered via Google Forms. The study measured AI literacy across cognitive, affective, behavioral, and ethical learning domains and assessed readiness for ethical AI adoption similarly. Results revealed strong, significant positive correlations between AI literacy components and readiness, with ethical and affective learning emerging as highly significant predictors of ethical AI adoption readiness. Cognitive and behavioral learning, however, were not significant predictors despite showing positive correlations. These findings emphasize the importance of integrating ethical awareness and affective engagement into AI education to enhance students’ preparedness for responsible AI use in education. The study highlights the need for comprehensive AI literacy programs that balance knowledge acquisition with ethical values and behavioral readiness. Recommendations include curriculum enhancements that incorporate experiential learning and reflective practices to bridge the gap between understanding and ethical application. This research contributes valuable insights for educators and policymakers aiming to cultivate ethically responsible AI users in higher education.
