Fundamentals of Radiation-Matter Interaction
摘要
Physics is a core scientific field devoted to exploring and utilizing the fundamental principles that regulate natural phenomena across physical, chemical, and biological systems. At its foundation, the practical application of physical laws forms the intellectual basis of the technologies that underpin modern society. The discipline’s rigorous theoretical structure and technical sophistication have driven the creation of advanced technologies, many of which have transformed medicine and the life sciences. In particular, physics has been instrumental in enabling highly accurate, targeted, and technologically advanced healthcare solutions in contemporary cancer treatment facilities. This book presents an introductory overview of the fundamental concepts of medical physics, with special emphasis on their role in the advanced management of cancer patients. Modern oncology centers are equipped with a broad spectrum of cutting-edge technologies, including sophisticated imaging systems that allow precise detection, localization, and evaluation of tumors within the human body. Therapeutic facilities also incorporate powerful radiation sources and particle accelerators, supported by advanced delivery techniques designed to destroy malignant tissues through a variety of controlled approaches. Furthermore, nuclear medicine plays a vital role through the use of radionuclides produced in cyclotrons and coupled with pharmaceutical compounds, enabling both diagnostic imaging and targeted therapeutic interventions.
